PUBLIC NOTICE

CALL FOR SPECIAL ELECTION

FOR THE CITY OF FAIRMOUNT



Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with O.C.G.A. § 21-2-540, a special election shall be held in the City of Fairmount to fill the vacancy in the office of:  


    Mayor, caused by the resignation of Tyler Leamer 

    City Council Post 1, caused by the resignation of Steve Fain


The special election will be held on March 18, 2025.  


Qualifying for the special election shall be held at the Fairmount City Hall located at 2661 Hwy 411 SE, Fairmount, Georgia, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, and ending at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025.  


The qualifying fee shall be:  

    For Mayor:  $468.00

    City Council Post 1:  $27.00 


All persons who are not registered to vote and who desire to register to vote in the special election may register to vote through the close of business on February 18, 2025.  Early voting begins on Monday, February 24, 2025 and will end on Friday, March 14, 2025, in the Gordon County Board of Elections and Registration Office located at the Gordon County Courthouse at 100 S. Wall Street, Calhoun, Georgia.  Office hours are Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.  We will have early voting on Saturday, March 1, 2025 and Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.  


The Fairmount Voting precinct located at the Fairmount Community Center will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.


Should a runoff election be required, such runoff will be held on April 15, 2025.
