FINANCIAL REPORT

  • SPLOST & LOST

    • SPLOST and LOST revenue shown in the report dated June 30, 2022, reflect collections reported for May 2022. For that period, SPLOST collections were $1,285,680.91 which is a $317,371.06 (32.78%) increase over the same period last year. LOST collections were $814,844.98 which is a $201,132 (32.78%) increase over the same period last year.

  • REVENUE & EXPENDITURE REPORT

    • The 9 month revenue and expenditure report is in your material. The time period of the report is from July 1, 2021 through March 31, 2022. Total revenue collected for this period was $33,452,397 against expenditures of $30,197,000.

SIGNIFICANT PROJECTS & ACTIVITY

  • COURTHOUSE RENOVATION

    • Planned interior demolition of the 1961Courthouse continues. Crews are currently working on the second and third floors. Mr. King and I have met with Judge Richie Parker and Judge Pat Rasberry to review the design. We will be including Judge Rasberry, Judge Parker and Elections Supervisor, Shea Hicks in our regular project meetings to keep them informed of progress.

  • ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

    •  The Development Authority met last Tuesday and reviewed ongoing projects and was informed of continued interest in county wide development.

  • PILOT AGREEMENTS

    • Gordon County, the Tax Assessor's Office, Development Authority Staff, and others have reviewed the status of agreements for Payments in Lieu of Taxes in an ongoing effort to ensure compliance and enforcement of provisions designed to incentivize job creation and investment by existing and new industry.

  • TENNIS BOOSTERS REQUEST

    •  Recreation Director, Craig Sparks, Keith King and I met with Skipper Stewart at the tennis courts at Sonoraville. Mr. Stewart was inquiring about the feasibility of improvements such as a concrete path on the back side of the courts to facilitate spectators, accessibility of the restrooms at the splash pad pavilion and the possibility of adding a shelter type pavilion at the courts.

  • GORDON COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT

    • The new fire trucks authorized at the last meeting have been ordered. We do not expect delivery for another 12 to 18 months.

  • DOCUMENT IMAGING

    • Superior Court Clerk, Grant Walraven, hosted a meeting with his vendor for document scanning to determine if the services could benefit other departments. Mr. Walraven has utilized image scanning in his office to copy nearly all of his deed records. The Probate Court and Building Inspection have expressed n interest in this service, as well. By scanning the documents into a digital format they can be accessed remotely thereby increasing efficiency for the public. In addition, the documents will be preserved in an electronic format to protect against a natural disaster. Fragile documents can be safely archived in a remote location which will also free up expensive office space.
